This past year marked meaningful advancement in our mission to promote equitable funding, protect school choice, and ensure sustainable support for the communities we serve. Through consistent engagement at the Capitol, partnership with educational leaders, and direct communication with families, CEC continues to be the trusted voice for nonpublic education in Louisiana.

Highlights from 2025:

  • Maintained $20 million in state funding for Required Services, School Lunch Salary Supplement, and Textbook Administration.

  • Supported passage of Act 403, enabling families to “stack” the Tuition Donation Tax Credit (TDC) with Education Savings Account (ESA) funds.

  • Successfully defeated legislation that would have imposed public-school testing and curriculum mandates on nonpublic schools.

  • Filed HB 484 to expand TDC eligibility for students with disabilities, continuing efforts to ensure fair access to educational opportunities.

  • Mobilized hundreds of advocates statewide in response to challenges with the new LA GATOR program, ensuring nonpublic families’ voices were heard at the state level.

Beyond legislative wins, CEC continues to build capacity and accountability through expanded membership, stronger communication tools, and a clear strategic vision focused on sustainability, engagement, and growth.
